God is a Verb

I see God in
the instruments and the mechanisms that
work
reliably,
more reliably than the limited sensory departments of
the human mechanism.
And God says
observe the paradox
of man's creative potentials
and his destructive tactics.
He could have his new world
through sufficient love
for "all's fair"
in love as well as in war
which means you can
junk as much rubbish,
skip as many stupid agreements
by love,
spontaneous unselfishness radiant.

The revolution has come-
set on fire from the top.
Let it burn swiftly.
Neither the branches, trunk, nor roots will be endangered.
Only last year's leaves and
the parasite-bearded moss and orchids
will not be there
when the next spring brings fresh growth
and free standing flowers.

Here is God's purpose-
for God, to me, it seems,
is a verb
not a noun,
proper or improper;
is the articulation
not the art, objective or subjective;
is loving,
not the abstraction "love" commanded or entreated;
is knowledge dynamic,
not legislative code,
not proclamation law.
not academic dogma, not ecclesiastic canon.
Yes, God is a verb,
the most active,
connoting the vast harmonic
reordering of the universe
from unleashed chaos of energy.
And there is born unheralded
a great natural peace,
not out of exclusive
pseudo-static security
but out of including, refining, dynamic balancing.
Naught is lost.
Only the false and nonexistent are dispelled.

And I've thought through to tomorrow
which is also today.
The telephone rings
and you say to me
Hello Buckling this is Christopher; or
Daddy it's Allegra; or
Mr. Fuller this is the Telephone Company Business Office;
and I say you are inaccurate.
Because I knew you were going to call
and furthermore I recognize
that it is God who is "speaking."And you say
aren't you being fantastic?
And knowing you I say no.

All organized religions of the past
were inherently developed
as beliefs and credits
in "second hand" information.

Therefore it will be an entirely new era
when man finds himself confronted
with direct experience
with an obviously a priori
intellectually anticipatory competency
that has interordered
all that he is discovering.

Guess they are taking their ball and going home... spoiled brats!

Chuck Norris for president … of Texas

If the State of Texas ever left the Union, Chuck Norris is interested in being president of the newly independent country.

(CNN) – Actor Chuck Norris has his eyes on the presidency, but not the White House. Norris wrote that he would be interested in becoming the president of Texas, if the state were ever to secede from the Union.

“I may run for president of Texas,” Norris wrote Monday in a column posted at WorldNetDaily. “That need may be a reality sooner than we think. If not me, someone someday may again be running for president of the Lone Star state, if the state of the union continues to turn into the enemy of the state.”

The actor claimed “thousands of cell groups will be united around the country in solidarity over the concerns for our nation” and said that if states decide to secede from the union, that Texas would lead the way.

“Anyone who has been around Texas for any length of time knows exactly what we'd do if the going got rough in America,” Norris wrote.

“Let there be no doubt about that.” Norris was a strong supporter of Mike Huckabee’s presidential bid, and he helped to draw attention to the former Arkansas governor’s campaign.

Positivity

I've finally admitted to myself that I am a cat person. However, in the spirit of positive vibrations, I must admit that this is the cutest picture evah.

How are you all doin' ? The Lynnsquad is feeling pretty good this week. Not a whole lot is going on, just trying to keep forward motion.

I cannot STAND it!

Could Kate Winslet be anymore beautiful, talented, and smart. NO, I don't think so. I just ran across this new picture of her from Elle UK. There are some more of her but they threw me into a fit of envy. I try to stay away from fits of envy. This picture of hers is a little Pussycat Dollish, but she pulls it off and demonstrates her diversability (is that a word?).

What movies of hers would I recommend? There a quite a few I haven't seen, but here's some good ones:

Holy Smoke- plays a complex woman who is pulled out of India by her family to be "de-programmed" by Harvey Keitel. Mindbender.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind- one of my all time favorite movies. She plays alongside Jim Carrey in a lovely, funny, sad movie about love and redemption.

Finding Neverland - Soooooo good. Johnny Depp as J.M. Barrie . . . 'nuff said.

I could go on and on, but this is a good start.


Hugs and Kisses

As the New Year approaches

So I've never really felt like the "New Year" is the new year. Nothing is refreshed, renewed, or reawakened on January 1st. It's all muddy and gloomy. That's not new. The new year should be in Spring. Anyway, the holidays are over and I wanted to take a minute to tell everyone how much I love them and appreciate having you in our lives (even the people I hardly talk to or are major pains in my ass). The Lynn family loves you, even when our narrative shifts from first-person to second-person to third-person.

What's up for the new year? Well, Sean is still in the thinking stages of the chicken coop, claiming all the while that, "There's not enough time, never enough time." Kaya can't wait to get back to school and she wants to start cello lessons -- okay, WE want her to start cello lessons. Max still tells us that he detests school, but he loves his electric guitar. I swear, if I hear, "I AM IRON MAN!!!" one more time I am going to sue Ozzy Osbourne and Robert Downey Jr myself. I (Shannon) am starting a beginning French course on January 5th.

I am the first to admit that Ken always seemed more like a shopping partner than a hot boyfriend to Barbie, but come on. What did they do to him? He has Dolce Gabbana sunglasses and pink lip gloss on!?!

ever gets cancelled. I will go bat-poop-crazy. Anyone who has ever worked in an office, or who never wants to work in office ought to watch this show. Originally I wanted to hate it, but now i LURVE it.

You know, Sean thinks my posts are kind of lame and that he could do better. I say . . . Bring It On. I think we should do dueling posts and see who beat who (whom?).

Meh and Blech

Is it summer yet? Something about this time of the year feels so depleting. Anyone want to move to New Zealand? We can all raise goats and sheep! Also, this will be an answer to all the folks who keep saying, "America, love it or leave it." Let's leave it and then come back and recolonize with our hybrid breed of a magical sheep-goat. What would we call this animal, though? A Shoat? A Geep? Any suggestions?

If you don't want to caption, you can just read other's posts and LYAO. If I'm having a bad day, I go here and am guaranteed a smile. It may sound cheesy, but most of the people have very dry, real humor.

Moving forward . . .

How would you like this staring at you every morning? Sean is ramping up to start work on building a chicken coop this Winter. Yes, that's right, the kids are going to learn to scoop chicken poop. If anyone has any design ideas, please feel free to submit them. Shannon just finished up both of her term papers. Yaaaaaayyyy! Thanksgiving was very mellow and very fun. We had turkey burgers and sweet potato french fries and a bunch of classic dishes. I'm still full. Max and Kaya are starting to get cabin fever already, and we haven't even reached Christmas yet. Speaking of Christmas, this one is going to be very scaled back, with a major emphasis on giving love and spending time with the family. Maybe this can be a template for all coming holidays!

Hi Everyone! We just wanted to let you all know that we are very thankful to have you in our lives. Does anyone have anything wild planned for the holidays? The Lynnsquad is probably going to lay low. We're making Sweet Potato fries to add to Grandma and Grandpa's Thanksgiving/Eli Birthday celebration. Shannon is thinking of making horseradish cranberry sauce. Any suggestions for fun food?
